This will be a year to remember for Elon Parkinson, Digicel Jamaica’s head of communications and corporate affairs, who turned 50 over the weekend.

He invited friends and colleagues to Digicel’s Wholesome Cafe to celebrate ahead of the milestone.

It also happens that Elon will now own and operate Wholesome Cafe, thus combining his entrepreneurial skills and his passion for cooking.

Elon doesn’t look like the typical 50-year-old. He could knock a couple of decades off and get away with it! He looks in prime condition, fit, healthy and unlined.

He paid tribute to his mother and told of how she sparked his interest in cooking, with her allowing him to prepare some family meals when he was a boy.

She must have been a proud mama watching her son with the Prime Minister under that Wholesome Cafe sign, taking delight in his accomplishments and success.

He plans to revamp Wholesome Cafe and diversify its menu offerings. The idea is not only to have it recognised as just an eatery for Digicel employees but also to attract people from the wider downtown Kingston vicinity.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness said while speaking of Elon who he has known for many years, you can’t enjoy wealth if you don’t have your health – he’s absolutely right!

Elon looked blessed with both. The affable communications professional is well-regarded and has carved out a stellar reputation. He distinguished himself at Air Jamaica, CVM and Flow before going on to Digicel where he was promoted.

As he hits 50, there’s a lot to be proud about.

Happy birthday Elon, and wishing you the best of health and success in the coming years mate.

Here’s to you.
