Musical and performing legend Sir Elton John has finally achieved EGOT, after securing an Emmy Award for Best Variety Special (Live) in 2023 for his Disney+ programme, Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium.

John, a five-time Grammy Award winner, has been a musical powerhouse for decades. His notable Grammy wins include the timeless hit That’s What Friends Are For in 1987, along with accolades for outstanding contributions to the industry with albums like Basque in 1992, Can You Feel the Love Tonight in 1995, and Candle in the Wind in 1998, as well as his work on the Broadway musical Aida in 2001.

In the realm of cinema, John has proven his prowess with two Oscar wins for Best Original Song. His first triumph came in 1994 with Can You Feel the Love Tonight? from the animated classic The Lion King. The second win was more recent, as he claimed the Oscar for I’m Gonna Love Me Again from the biographical film Rocketman in 2019.

He received a Tony Award for the original score of Aida in 2000.
