Gmail on Tuesday, August 8, announced the launch of the integrated native translation feature within its mobile app, enabling users to effortlessly translate emails into over 100 languages for android users.
The new feature is particularly valuable for businesses and individuals who frequently interact with counterparts from diverse linguistic backgrounds. It enables smoother communication, allowing recipients to understand the content of emails accurately, regardless of the original language, from a mobile device.
To utilise this feature, users simply need to select the “Translate” option on the dismissible banner that appears when the content language of an email differs from their chosen “Google.com Mail display language”. This intuitive process ensures that users can access translations without any hassle.

In addition to the automatic translation banner, Gmail offers further customisation options. Users can choose to have Gmail always translate, or never translate, specific languages, according to their preferences. The platform also allows users to turn off the translation banner for specific languages permanently, ensuring a tailored experience.
“We’re excited to bring this highly requested feature to our users. With the new native translation integration in the Gmail mobile app, we are making it easier than ever for people around the world to communicate and connect,” said a spokesperson from Gmail.
For those who wish to manually translate messages, the option remains available through the three-dot menu. This flexibility caters to individual preferences and needs, providing a comprehensive translation solution for all users.
The roll-out of this feature began on August 8, for Android users, with a gradual roll-out planned over the following 15 days. iOS users can expect the feature to become available on August 21 following a similar roll-out schedule.
