After a six-year hiatus from the music industry, Rihanna today (October 28) released Lift Me Up, her long awaited single, which is featured on the soundtrack of Marvel superhero blockbuster Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and has evoked immense emotions from fans on social media.

Wanting to hear the melodious voice of the Barbadian singer, fans and media voices have bombarded the singer with questions about her return to music over and over throughout her time away.

Born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, the 34-year-old had taken time off from her musical endeavours to explore her entrepreneurial ventures, which ultimately saw her becoming a billionaire.

But despite her success as a beauty mogul, eager fans still wanted music from the Grammy award winning artiste.

After teasing her return to the music industry for over two years, Rihanna finally gave fans a glimpse of what is to come with today’s release of Lift Me Up.

The song has already brought many on social media to tears as they celebrated the return of Rihanna and the purpose behind the single, which pay tribute to late actor Chadwick Boseman, who embodied the titular character in 2018’s Black Panther.

Created specifically for the Black Panther sequel, the song aims to lift up those experiencing grief.
