Energy minister in receipt of findings and reports submitted by JPS

Minister with responsibility for Energy Daryl Vaz is confirming that the ministry is in receipt of the findings and reports submitted by the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) concerning the June 5, 2026.
In keeping with the Government’s directive, JPS submitted the findings and reports within the stipulated 30-day timeframe. The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) has also received the same reports within the prescribed period as part of the regulatory review process.
Vaz welcomed the timely submission and advised that the ministry has commenced a detailed technical review of the reports in collaboration with the OUR and other relevant agencies, where appropriate.
“The government is committed to ensuring that every aspect of these findings is subjected to a thorough and objective review. Our priority is to safeguard the public interest, strengthen accountability, and ensure that any lessons arising from this process translate into meaningful improvements in the reliability and resilience of Jamaica’s electricity system,” Vaz said.
Vaz has assured the public that the ministry will continue to keep Jamaicans informed as the review progresses and that any decisions or recommendations arising from the reports will be communicated in a timely and transparent manner.
