The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) will open all its constituency offices this Saturday, September 28, from 10 am to 2 pm to allow eligible persons to register to vote.
The EOJ, in a media release, said it has extended the hours in an effort to facilitate persons who may not have been able to visit the EOJ offices during the regular opening hours. It said individuals who wish to be added to the voters’ list may apply at the nearest EOJ constituency office.
The deadline to register for the upcoming publication of the voters’ list is Monday, September 30.
Glasspole Brown, director of elections, said: “If you were not able to visit our offices during regular business hours, this is your chance to get registered. Once you miss the September 30 deadline, you will have to wait until next year (2025) to be added to the voters’ list.”
Prospective electors are advised to wear bright or dark-coloured clothing to facilitate the process of taking their photograph. Meanwhile, persons already on the voters’ list are reminded not to reapply.
Registered electors are also urged to use the opportunity to collect their renewed voter ID card if they have not yet done so.
