The 2024 Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is the epicentre of competitive gaming. Organized by the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) and ESL FACEIT Group, this event brings together gaming communities worldwide.

Initiated as a rebranding and expansion of the former Gamers8 series, the Esports World Cup was announced in late 2023 to broaden its appeal.

The championship is a special competition that gives a $20 million (~£15.9 million) prize pool to the top 16 organizations.

The tournament showcases competitions across 22 games like Dota 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG Mobile, Honor of Kings, Apex Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, and more.

Notably, classics like StarCraft II and PUBG also reflect the tournament’s commitment to honouring both contemporary and established gaming cultures.

Each game goes through a rigorous qualifying process to qualify for the championship series that now forms the core of the Esports World Cup.

Beyond individual game competitions, the event introduces a club competition format, inviting participating organizations to compete across all featured games.

This format not only enhances the competitiveness of the tournament but also fosters a sense of community among esports enthusiasts globally.

The Dota 2 action will return on Tuesday, July 16, as we dive into the playoff stages of the 2024 Esports World Cup.

As the competition continues into its third week, fans and players can expect thrilling displays of skill and strategy across a multitude of gaming platforms.

The team that performs the best over eight weeks will be named the club champion.
