Jamaica and Ethiopia are keen on expediting economic and social ties

To this extent, Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen held discussion with Jamaica’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Kamina J Smith, in Havana, Cuba on the margins of the just-ended Group 77+China Summit.

The two officials have agreed to take both countries long-standing ties take to the next level. Johnson Smith, in her remarks, acknowledged that there is room for more engagements with Ethiopia.

The foreign minister indicated that she will be using the Group 77+ China Summit to further ties with Ethiopia. Speaking at the Group 77+ China Summit, Mekonnen called for genuine reform of global institutions to accommodate the interest of the South.

The Group 77+ China Summit, which was concluded on Saturday, was held with the objective to ensuring technology works for all humanity and accelerating sustainable development.
