Deputy Mayor of Montego Bay Richard Vernon; Dr Stefan Keil, Germany’s ambassador to Jamaica; JAMVAC Executive Director Joy Roberts and the Jamaica Tourist Board’s Odette Dyer officially welcomed the flight yesterday.

German carrier Eurowings has begun direct flights between Germany and Jamaica.

Yesterday, Eurowings Flight 4Y 006 arrived at Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport at 5.23 pm from Frankfurt, Germany carrying 211 passengers and crew.

Jamaica’s Ministry of Tourism is expressing pleasure at the news of the arrival of the first of twice weekly non-stop flights between Germany and Jamaica by Eurowings.

Delano Seiveright, senior advisor and strategist in the Ministry of Tourism, noted that the new flights form part of a restart of efforts to bring increased tourist traffic from Europe.

Eurowings is the Lufthansa Group’s low-cost airline and as such is a part of the world’s largest aviation group.

Eurowings has a current fleet of 139 aircraft and specialises in low-direct flights within Europe. The German airline currently offers more than 100 destinations in more than 50 countries, making it the third largest European point-to-point carrier.
