Netflix has confirmed that American rock band Evanescence will contribute a new song ‘Afterlife‘, to its upcoming ‘Devil May Cry‘ animated adaptation .

The track will be released this Friday (March 28) with a lyric video, featuring exclusive scenes from the series.

The series is scheduled to launch on April 3, with Johnny Yong Bosch voicing Dante in the English dub. The cast also includes Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary, Hoon Lee as White Rabbit, and the late Kevin Conroy in one of his final roles as VP Baines. Chris Coppola will voice Enzo.

For the Japanese version, Toshiyuki Morikawa will reprise his role as Dante, joined by Fumiko Orikasa as Lady and Hiroaki Hirata as Vergil. The series is produced by Studio Mir, with Adi Shankar and Alex Larsen (Yasuke) handling the scripts. The adaptation is planned to span multiple seasons.

The first season will comprise eight episodes and will feature Dante, Vergil, and Lady. Limp Bizkit’s ‘Rollin’ has been chosen as the opening theme.

Shankar acquired the rights to develop the series in 2018, stating that it would exist alongside ‘Castlevania‘ within what he calls the “bootleg multiverse.” ‘Devil May Cry‘ previously inspired a 12-episode anime by Madhouse in 2007, which was later distributed by ADV Films and Funimation.

The ‘Devil May Cry‘ video game franchise has seen continued success since its debut in 2001. The most recent instalment, ‘Devil May Cry 5‘, was released in 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, followed by an enhanced edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in 2020.

The series has also expanded into novels, manga, and live productions, including the ‘Devil May Cry: The Live Hacker‘ stage play in 2019.
