Jolyan Silvera, former member of parliament for Western St Mary, has been taken into custody as a suspect in the investigation of the murder of his wife Melissa Silvera on Thursday, January 18.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey has confirmed the development.
Melissa Silvera was found dead in her sleep on November 10, 2023, initially suspected of dying from natural causes until it was later confirmed by an autopsy report on December 16, 2023, that she was shot three times in the head.
Throughout her murder investigation, her husband, the former member of parliament, declared his innocence and denied any involvement in the homicide, despite reports that adjustments were made to the couple’s bedroom after her death, painting the walls, destroying the bed, and retiling the floor.
