Excelsior High and St Catherine High were crowned champions of the ISSA Wata Manning Cup and Walker Cup, respectively, with wins over Jamaica College (JC) and Mona High at the National Stadium on Friday night.

Kimarley Scott and Kivann Salmon scored for Excelsior as they ended a 21-year drought, winning their first title since 2004 and their eighth overall.

Formed in 1931, Excelsior first won the Manning Cup in 1953, 1969, 1980, 1989, 1993, 2003, 2004 and now 2025.

Excelsior High are now fifth on the winners list behind JC (28), St George’s College (21), Kingston College (17) and Wolmer’s Boys (10).

It was the first defeat for JC this season, and it came at the most inappropriate time. It was also sweet revenge for Excelsior, which lost 1-2 to JC in the quarterfinal round.

The Keon Broderick-coached boys from Mountain View lost two finals last year, losing the Walker Cup to Mona High and the Under-16 final to St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS). So it was fitting to see them finally win a cup, and they deserved it.

Earlier, St Catherine High won the Walker Cup, beating Mona High 4-3 on penalties after battling to an exciting 3-3 draw in normal time.

It was their third lien on the Walker Cup, having won in 2019, 2021 and 2025.

Mona were the defending champions, and they took the lead through Devrahj Singh in the 5th-minute, but Dwight Gentles turned it around for St catherine, scoring twice in the 22^nd and 34^th minutes.

Joenaldo Payne pulled Mona level in minute 55, before Sean Leighton gave them the lead two minutes later in the 57^th minute.

But St Catherine would not be denied, and Kevin Grey volleyed home in the 85^th minute, sending the game into penalty kicks.

St Catherine’s Marlon Jones, Jordan Mathias, Dwight Gentles and Kadean Young were perfect from the spot with only Tchane Riley missing their third kick.

Sean Leighton, Savi-K Morton and Joenaldo Payne scored for Mona, but Niquan Allen and Nathaniel McCarthy missed their third and fourth kicks, which were costly.
