Explosion at the Grand Bahia Principe leaves two workers injured

An early morning explosion in a restaurant at the Grand Bahia Principe Hotel in Runaway Bay, St Ann, has left two workers injured.

 The injured workers were rushed to the hospital for injuries they sustained during the explosion. It is reported that their injuries did not appear serious, and they were treated and sent home.

According to reports, the blast occurred about 5:00 am on Wednesday (January 4).

The force of the flames caused damage to several glass windows.

An investigation has since been launched to determine the cause of the explosion which occurred during the cleaning and preparation process at the hotel.

The blast, which damaged one of the resort’s 10 restaurants, has not affected operations at the property.

There were no reports of fatalities.
