Express Fitness is expanding its network of gyms to meet the growing demand for high-quality fitness facilities across the island.

In a release, the company announced it will be constructing two state-of-the-art gyms in the Corporate Area, including a brand new 10,000-square-foot fitness centre in Liguanea on the existing Mailpac property. In addition, Express Fitness will invest in the extension of its Constant Spring location which will substantially increase the square footage of the already popular gym.

“These developments will collectively introduce an additional 25,000 square feet of fitness space to the city, enhancing accessibility and elevating the workout experience for members,” the release outlined.

Acclaimed architectural firm Vidal Atelier will be engaged in the design of both locations, which will offer cutting-edge amenities, including a rooftop turf area for outdoor workouts and events, as well as dedicated pickleball courts to cater to Jamaica’s growing interest in the sport. Express Fitness says these additions reflect its commitment to creating dynamic spaces, going beyond the services of traditional gyms and offering members an all-encompassing wellness environment that supports physical fitness and social engagement.

Express Fitness announced the expansion of its fitness centre network with the extension of the Constant Spring location and another in Liguanea, both of which are in the Corporate Area.

The expansion comes when more Jamaicans are prioritising their health and wellness, resulting in the surging demand for fitness spaces that provide top-tier equipment and a holistic approach to well-being. The company has observed a growing shift towards community-driven fitness experiences, where individuals seek more than just a place to exercise—they want an environment that motivates them, provides access to expert training and fosters a strong sense of belonging.

Research suggests that this growing interest in health and wellness is due to increased awareness of health issues, the rising influence of social media, more conversations around mental health, and additional fitness options. By developing new facilities, Express Fitness is responding to the needs of its members and the public to have access to modern, thoughtfully designed spaces that enhance their fitness journeys.

“As more Jamaicans embrace health and wellness as an essential part of their lifestyle, we are committed to expanding our facilities to meet this growing demand,” said

Khary Robinson, executive chairman, Express Fitness

“These new locations will not only provide world-class training environments but also introduce new social and recreational elements that make fitness more engaging and accessible. We believe that by creating spaces that inspire and support our members, we are helping to build a healthier, stronger Jamaica,” he added.

In the Corporate Area, Express Fitness operates gyms at Mall Plaza, New Kingston Business Centre, Liguanea Post Mall, Boulevard Supercentre, and Constant Spring Golf Club.

More in Portmore, more in MoBay

In addition to its Corporate Area footprint expansion, Express Fitness is in late-stage discussions to add new locations in Portmore, St Catherine, and Montego Bay, St James, with plans for a 7,000 to 12,000-square-foot gym to be developed in each municipality by 2026. This move aligns with the company’s vision of making high-quality fitness solutions accessible to more communities across Jamaica.

Already, Express Fitness has two locations in Portmore, at Sovereign Village and Big Buy Plaza — the latter in April 2024. In Montego Bay the fitness centre chain can be found at Whitter Village and Fairview Office Park.

“With the rapid residential and commercial growth of Montego Bay and Portmore, the introduction of a world-class fitness facility will provide residents with much-needed access to state-of-the-art equipment, specialised workout programmes, and expert guidance to support their health goals,” Omar Shoucair, COO of Express Fitness, explained.

Express Fitness remains dedicated to revolutionising the fitness industry in Jamaica by continuously innovating to create premium workout environments that cater to the evolving needs of its members. By expanding its footprint and introducing new amenities, the company is not only reinforcing its position as the industry leader, but it is also setting a new standard for fitness excellence in the Caribbean.
