Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are facing misconduct charges from the Football Association after tempers flared at the end of their FA Cup clash on Saturday.
A confrontation broke out between players from both teams, moments after the final whistle at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, following Villa’s 2–1 victory in the third-round tie.
The FA says both clubs failed to keep their players and officials from acting improperly or provocatively once the match ended.
Spurs and Villa have been given until Friday to submit their responses to the charges.
On the pitch, Villa built a 2–0 advantage by halftime through goals from Emiliano Buendia and Morgan Rogers.
Tottenham pulled one back after the break when Wilson Odobert found the net, but the home side could not force a comeback, crashing out of the competition early.
Aston Villa, currently third in the Premier League, now turn their attention to a fourth- round meeting with Newcastle United.
