Patrons left the cinema filled with joy after bonding with their children at last night’s Despicable Me 4 premiere at the Sunshine Palace in Portmore.
The movie was shown in 4DX and took the audience on a journey as it explored themes such as family, love, friendship, vengeance, growth, and forgiveness.
Dru, an ex-supervillain, is faced with new challenges in his life that include bonding with his son, whose intent is to torment his dad. Not only that, but he also has to uproot his family from their home, which they know and love, to move them into witness protection because his nemesis has escaped from prison and is out for revenge.
The movie allows the audience to journey with the family on a rollercoaster of laughter, mischief, and heartwarming surprises as they try to navigate their new lives with the challenge of not bringing much attention to themselves.

However, with the reputation that Dru has, the challenge is short-lived.
Though movies like these may not ideally appeal to the taste of many adults, this was not the case for Despicable Me 4.
The movie premiere was well-attended, with scores of kids and their parents who were also bursting into fits of laughter at various scenes in the movie.
Audience members also raved about the show as they left the theatre, expressing their amazement at how funny and heartwarming the show was.
Shelly-Ann, a patron who accompanied her children to the movie, was left in disbelief at how much she enjoyed the show and rated the film a ten.

“I really enjoyed it, I was trying to watch part three at home, and I could not watch it. To be honest, coming here, I have to go back home and watch part three because part four is amazing,” she said.
She also expressed that her favourite part of the movie was when the minions became superheroes and when Dru bonded with his child.
“I think the second half was more interesting than the first half. I really got into it in the second half. It was really funny,” Audreen Bennett, another patron, said.
Seprod Group’s Monster Milk, a key partner of the premier, was also present, giving away treats to patrons, which allowed the experience to be even more scary good.
