The Lakers fan who tried to take LeBron James to court over what he called a costly letdown has officially dropped his case.

Court records show that Andrew Garcia filed to dismiss his small claims lawsuit against the NBA star on Monday, less than two weeks after he first claimed LeBron owed him nearly $900.

Garcia, a diehard Lakers supporter, was convinced LeBron was about to hang up his jersey when he teased a major announcement on October 7th, 2025. Thinking it was the end of an era, Garcia rushed to Ticketmaster and shelled out over $860 for two seats to what he believed would be LeBron’s farewell game against the Cavs on March 31, 2026.

But the dramatic buildup led not to a retirement speech but to a liquor ad. Garcia, feeling duped and stuck with pricey tickets that suddenly felt meaningless, accused LeBron of misleading fans and filed a suit for fraud and misrepresentation.

Now, in an unexpected twist, Garcia says he received a message from someone at PrizePicks, a daily fantasy sports platform, who offered him free Lakers tickets and some team gear to make up for the disappointment. That was enough to change his mind. He dropped the lawsuit and moved on.
