Father charged for murder in death of 14-year-old Shantina Sergeant

Detectives from the Spalding Criminal Investigations Branch in Clarendon have charged 46-year-old Lawrence Sergeant in connection with the death of his daughter, 14-year-old Shantina Sergeant, who lived on Riverside Drive, Clarendon.

Shantina’s body was discovered on Monday, October 6.

Reports are that Shantina was reported missing at the Christiana Police Station on Thursday, October 3, and an investigation was immediately launched.

On Monday, October 6, a search of Shantina’s home was conducted, during which decomposed remains were found in bushes at the back of the premises.

Following this discovery, police went in search of Lawrence Sergeant, who had fled the area. He was apprehended in Old Harbour, St Catherine, on Friday, October 10.

A post-mortem examination confirmed that the remains belonged to Shantina Sergeant, and Lawrence Sergeant was charged with Murder on Wednesday, November 5.

His court date is being finalised.
