Jamaican fuel products distributor Future Energy Source Company Limited (FESCO) has joined forces with Lynk, Jamaica’s digital wallet, to enable mobile payments at its fuel pumps.

The partnership comes in time for the release of FESCO’s premium grade FUTRON 93 fuel and will see drivers and convenience store customers making payments from their smartphones, through the Lynk app, for safer, more convenient, cashless transactions. The Beechwood Avenue location will be the first of FESCO’s 18 service stations to offer customers the option to scan and pay with Lynk.

“Drivers are going to experience the difference in safety, convenience, and ease of transactions when they pay with Lynk at FESCO’s service station,” said Denise Williams, chief growth officer at Lynk.

“With no more waiting on a card machine to free up, no more receipts piling up in the car, reduced risk of theft and personal safety by travelling with less cash on their person, and a new, easy way to keep track of what they’re spending at the pump – this will be a game changer for both merchants and customers.”

PLATFORM LAUNCHED IN OCTOBER

According to Williams, the partnership with FESCO is part of Lynk’s new merchant platform, LynkBiz, which is currently in its pilot phase with more than 40 merchants islandwide.

LynkBiz gives business owners access to more than 175,000 Lynk customers through its alternative payment option that allows customers to scan a QR code and pay through Lynk.

The platform was launched in October to enable real-time and immediate digital payments, efficient digital records for businesses, shorter processing and wait times for consumers, and, overall, more affordable ways to process transactions digitally.

“We are using this pilot to gather feedback from both customers and merchants so that we can continue improving the platform and ensure we deliver a ‘best-in-class’ digital experience for our end users. We look forward to expanding this service in the new year to offer this safety, ease, and convenience to businesses across Jamaica,” said Williams.

Jeremy Barnes, managing director, FESCO.

“We are always seeking to improve our overall value proposition to our customers. The partnership comes at a time when we are proudly launching FUTRON 93 Octane, ‘The Gold Standard’ of automotive fuel. Drivers of luxury and high-performance vehicles will now have island wide access to a premium grade of fuel at the pump,” said Jeremy Barnes, managing director of FESCO.

“With Lynk’s digital payment option, we continue to give our customers added value. The Lynk payment option is quick, easy, and secure. Transactions are processed when customers use their Lynk app to scan a QR code provided by the FESCO attendant. After entering the total for the transaction, a digital receipt will be generated. Overall, the process saves time, is focused on safety and convenience, especially during this festive season.”

In addition to FESCO, Lynk is partnering with businesses such as Campus Foods and R&R Minimart and restaurant, which are both located at UWI Mona; Danya’s Coffee Barrell in downtown Kingston; Pier One in Montego Bay, St James; Kingston Jerk in the New Kingston Area; and CSport, the online sports streaming provider which holds broadcast rights for the FIFA World Cup, English Premier League, Euro Nations League, and NFL. The LynkBiz platform is set to scale up and expand to businesses islandwide in early 2023.
