Food For The Poor Jamaica (FFTP) has joined forces with two major international humanitarian agencies, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), in a collaborative effort to strengthen support for vulnerable families and communities across Jamaica, particularly those affected by the recent passage of Hurricane Melissa.

This collaboration represents a strong alliance between the organisations dedicated to supporting vulnerable communities across Jamaica.

The partnership underscores a shared commitment to ensuring food security, child welfare, and community resilience in times of crisis. Through combined resources, technical expertise, and on-the-ground networks, the organisations aim to deliver targeted relief and sustainable recovery initiatives to the most affected populations.

In a recent meeting highlighting this collaboration, Kivette Silvera-Stephens, Audit & Risk Management Director, Food For The Poor Florida; Dana Sacchetti, Head of WFP Jamaica; and Olga Isaza, UNICEF Representative for Jamaica, came together to reaffirm their organisations’ shared mission to uplift those most in need.

Also present was Susan Moore, Partnership & Development Director, Food For The Poor Jamaica, who emphasised the importance of joint action in addressing Jamaica’s most pressing humanitarian needs.

The alliance builds on long-standing relationships among the groups, combining FFTP’s extensive community network, WFP’s emergency response expertise, and UNICEF’s child-focused programming. Together, the partners are working to ensure that no one is left behind in Jamaica’s recovery and development journey.

Food For The Poor Jamaica is one of the island’s largest charitable organisations, working alongside communities, churches, and partner agencies to provide food, housing, education, and disaster relief to those in need. Through partnerships with local and international donors, FFTP continues to empower families and strengthen communities across the nation.
