Fifth man charged in abuse probe at offshore child rehab facility in St Elizabeth

A fifth man has been charged in relation to the ongoing probe in which eight American children were removed from a facility in St Elizabeth by the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA).

The operator of the facility is scheduled to be questioned by the police on Thursday, April 11.

Charged with cruelty to child is 23-year-old Damion Herrera, otherwise called ‘True Juice’, of Gordon Pen, St Catherine.

Herrera joins four men who were previously charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, cruelty to child and assault at common law. They are:

  • Thirty-nine-year-old Eddison Morris, of Great Bay District
  • Fifty-one-year-old Courtney Wiggan, of Sandy Bank District
  • Thirty-year-old Odane Maxwell, footballer of Holland Village, and
  • Thirty-three-year-old Carson Cox, of Sandy Bank District, all in St. Elizabeth

All five men were granted bail in the sum of J$350,000 each, when they appeared in the St Elizabeth Parish Court on Tuesday, April 9. They are scheduled to reappear on Monday, May 13.
