Promoters appeal for sponsorships

Ladies aged 18 to 27 years, who are desirous of entering the Miss Universe Jamaica Northeast pageant for 2023, have one final chance to enter, according to promoters of the regional competition.

Interested ladies are urged to attend a final curtain call at Island Village shopping centre in Ocho Rios, St Ann, on Saturday (April 1) at 10:30 am.

“We are still open to auditioning young ladies for the Miss Jamaica Northeast regional pageant but this is definitely the last call,” said Damian Graham, a member of the organising committee.

“We’ve already seen several young ladies but we’re still hearing persons asking about the possibility of entering the pageant, as they were unable to attend our curtain call earlier this month. This is their chance.”

“We are urging the business community and especially the tourism sector to get on board with us and sponsor the pageant because our winner here will be representing all of us in this northeast region when she goes to the national finals in Kingston… .”

Despite the popularity of the Miss Universe brand locally, as the country’s representatives have figured prominently in the international finals over the years, cash sponsorship for this year’s regional contest is woefully lacking, he indicated.

According to Graham: “We are urging the business community and especially the tourism sector to get on board with us and sponsor the pageant because our winner here will be representing all of us in this north east region when she goes to the national finals in Kingston and, later, when she goes to the international finals in El Salvador after that – yes, we have to be positive and remain hopeful that we will take home the crown to Jamaica.”

OTHER PRIZES IN STORE

Graham commended those sponsors who have already committed, noting that education is playing a vital part of the proceedings this year.

“We do have several sponsors who have committed to supporting the pageant by offering their products and services. I would especially like to commend The Moneague College which has committed to awarding six scholarships to the contestants, and also to Life Skills Publishing which has committed to providing a one-day workshop for the contestants, for which they will be awarded a certificate upon completion,” he said.

Several other prizes are in store for the contestants, including cash prizes and vacations. Other sponsors include Cool Cash, Sandals, Couples Tower Isle, 1962 Entertainment, and Blinkz Studio.

Interested persons may register before Saturday, via email at [email protected] or Whatsapp at 876-831-6423.
