Minister of Finance and Public Service Dr Nigel Clarke says the first phase of the compensation restructuring programme is complete, except for a few entities.

The finance minister made the disclosure in Parliament on Tuesday, January 23, while responding to questions raised by the opposition spokesman on finance, Julian Robinson, regarding an outstanding settlement in the Government’s compensation exercise for public sector workers.

“The compensation restructure, the first phase is for the most part complete with the exception of a few entities. Some of the matters you have been referring to have to deal with the second phase, to do with the restructuring of benefits and allowances, so those entities are public information. There were photographs and signing ceremonies, they have signed on to the compensation restructuring, but after dealing with the restructuring of salaries, the restructuring of benefits is now under discussion,” Clarke said.

He noted that progress is now being made where items are being discussed that were not being discussed in 2023.

Several public sector working groups, including dental surgeons, nurses and lecturers, in recent months have renewed their lobbying for better compensation under the Government’s compensation package.
