Several financial institutions have announced their closure to public traffic today, November 5, 2024, due to the severe weather conditions currently affecting the island.
All member companies of The Jamaica National (JN) Group are closed. Additionally, the group has fully activated its emergency response mechanisms to ensure the safety of its employees and the security of its facilities and the assets of its companies, clients, and customers.
“Our Member Care Centre and the Jamaica Automobile Association will remain open and available to support members,” JN Group further advised.
Members and customers are encouraged to follow JN on social media via Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter and to also look out for emails from the organisation.
Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited (Sagicor) also informed that its locations will remain closed today due to the passage of Tropical Storm Rafael. The financial group has activated emergency protocol to continue supporting its clients and teams via online services.
As such, Sagicor encouraged its clients stay tuned to its social media channels and website for further updates.
In the meantime, Barita Investments Limited shared that due to the passage of the tropical storm it has made the “choice to keep our clients and team safe during this time” and so all its locations are closed today.
However, its client care team will be available from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm via its toll free number and website.
The Bank of Jamaica (BOJ), acting on the tropical storm warning and other information provided by the Meteorological Service, suspended its teller services today until further notice. The central bank has also activated its Essential Services Protocol to continue providing core central bank services to banks and the financial market.
“The public will be updated regarding further developments or changes to BOJ’s operating schedule and apologises for any inconvenience that this suspension of Teller services may cause,” it said.
The financial institutions urged all Jamaicans to take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety and the preservation of life and property.
