Money-O! The catch phrase made popular by dancehall entertainer Macka Diamond has become synonymous with the artiste.
Born Charmaine Munroe on January 12, 1971, Macka grew up in Portmore, St Catherine.
The entertainer got her big break on the dancehall scene in the early 2000s and since then has remained one of the female staples in the dancehall industry.
Though she grew up around music, it wasn’t until hearing veteran artiste Sister Nancy that she was convinced she too could be a singer.
Macka sought the help of another powerful dancehall woman, Lady Junie to help kick start her music career. With Junie’s help she would get the chance to record Don Girl, an answer record to Major Mackerel’s Don Ban.
In 2005 the artiste released her album Money-O, which featured a guest appearance from Mad Cobra along with another hit single, Bun Him which featured Black-Er.
In that same year Macka also recorded the soca-flavoured single What Girls Like with Denise Belfon.
The 51-year-old singer continues to deliver energetic performances on stage. Macka is currently promoting the song Dream Body. The artiste released her EP, Diamond in The Rough, in August of this year.
The money goddess’ style and charm as helped her to garner many fans both home and abroad. Macka is a fashionista in her own right and knows how to make a statement whenever she steps out.

- The name game…
Early in her career during the 1980s, the Bun Him singer went by several names before reverting to Macka Diamond. She was known by the stage names Lady Charm, Lady Worries and Lady Mackerel.
2. It’s a family affair?
The dancehall artiste is the daughter of reggae producer Phillip Munroe. She was surrounded by music from an early age.
Macka grew up near her father’s studio in Portmore, Gregory Isaacs and Sly and Robbie were familiar faces to Macka in her childhood days.
Despite, Macka did not use her father as a connection, to get her foot in the industry, instead she sought the help of powerful woman of dancehall, Lady Junie.
3. Macka the ambassador!
In 2005 the artiste, who was taking the music industry by storm with her Don a Ready track signed with Wray and Nephew as brand ambassador for its Wray and Nephew Rum Cream.
4. Females rule!
The entertainer is a past student of Holy Childhood High School, an all-girl Catholic School in St Andrew. The artiste is not afraid of rooting for other females and as always openly support others in the industry.
5. Ok Ms Capricorn!
The artiste is a Capricorn! Capricorns are usually considered disciplined, conscientious and hardworking individuals. They strive for financial independence, talk about Money-O!
They pay a lot of attention to their careers, set goals and overcome obstacles to achieve them. Yup that sounds like Macka!
