Alaine is known and loved by her fans across the world. The reggae singer naturally brings smiles to the faces of many with her effervescent personality and she has become a household name in Jamaica.

She was born Alaine Laughton on September 21, 1978, in New Jersey, United States. The entertainer has always had a passion for singing.

In the summer of 2004, Alaine returned to Jamaica to build her music career. Since becoming an artiste, she has produced several hit songs to the delight of her fans.

The singer is a resident judge on the popular talent show, Digicel Rising Stars. Her always vibrant personality and cheerful spirit have placed her in the hearts of many.

In early 2019, Alaine announced she was baptised via Instagram post. She released her new single in the summer of the same year, titled Boast inna God.

Investment banker?

Can you imagine Alaine not singing? Well, once upon a time that was the reality. Alaine worked as an investment banker for JPMorgan Chase in the United States for several years, and she was good at it!

It was actually a promotion at JPMorgan that convinced her she needed to return to Jamaica and focus on music.

Lights, camera, action!

Her love for performing landed her an acting role at a young age. The singer was able to showcase her acting skills in the 1988 movie Clara’s Heart, alongside Hollywood actress Whoopi Goldberg.

Alaine, a Jill of many trades.

While living in the United States, Alaine was a songwriter. She wrote songs and sang back up for several Roc a Fella artistes.

She co-wrote the hit songs Gimmie Likkle One Drop and Wanty Wanty with Tarrus Riley and wrote the hit song Tight Skirt for Samantha J.

The songwriter also wrote the hit song Automatic for the queen of reggae music, Marcia Griffiths.

The girl with the ‘funny bone’

Alaine is naturally comedic, however she has taken things up a notch by providing her followers a daily dose of laughter with her hilarious skits.

Her acting and comedic abilities have been getting increased exposure on her Instagram page as she displays her creative abilities, acting and singing as a variety of different characters.

Alaine the activist!

Alaine doesn’t just spread the love, but she spreads awareness as well. For years the singer has been active in spreading awareness of HIV and safe sex practices to high school students in Jamaica.
