State-owned refinery, Petrojam, is remitting more savings for Jamaican industry and general motorists, with a fifth consecutive week of price reductions at the pumps, effective midnight Thursday (November 23).

In its closely watched petroleum product price index, Petrojam slashed 87-octane gasolene costs by J$3.06 to open at a new baseline of J$171.10 per litre, after applied taxes.

Prices have not been as low for Jamaicans this year since Petrojam’s commodity update on July 20.

Meanwhile, this week’s regimen update was more pronounced for kerosene oil, 87- and 90-octane gasolene, which fell by J$4.50 and $3.06 respectively. On the other hand, propane and butane each rose J$2.58 and J$2.56 in comparison to their costs in the past seven days.

It is expected that retailers will add their mark-ups to the announced prices.
