The flash flood warning issued for several parishes by the Meteorological Service on the weekend has been discontinued.

The affected parishes were St Thomas, Kingston and St Andrew, St Catherine, Clarendon, Manchester, St Elizabeth, Westmoreland and Hanover.

The Met Service says the trough induced by Tropical Storm Imelda, which was located near the Bahamas, was producing showers and thunderstorms over sections of southern and northwestern parishes since Saturday, but has drifted towards the north and away from the island.

It says satellite imagery, radar and the automated rainfall reports have indicated a reduction in rainfall amounts.

Still, motorists and pedestrians are advised to exercise caution and should not attempt to cross flooded roadways.
