Fontana Pharmacy celebrates 55 years with a Long Service award gala in recognition of employee excellence and loyalty on May 23 at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston. 

This event celebrated the unwavering dedication and commitment of its staff, honouring those who have been part of the Fontana family for five years and more. The evening was filled with appreciation, entertainment, and heartfelt tributes, marking a significant milestone in the company’s history.

The gala began with a warm welcome from Fontana Pharmacy’s directors, who expressed their gratitude and admiration for the employees’ dedication. The directors emphasised the vital role that long-serving staff members play in the company’s continued success and growth.

A highlight of the evening was the special recognition of the ‘Golden Girls’ of Fontana Pharmacy. Ruthlyn Sherwood, serving 54 years, Pat Forbes serving 49 years, and Faye Plunkett, serving 52 years, were honored for their exceptional service. Their unwavering commitment and hard work have been instrumental in shaping the company’s legacy. The heartfelt presentation acknowledged their invaluable contributions and set a high standard of excellence for all employees.

The event saw over 400 attendees, comprising staff members from all seven  Fontana Pharmacy locations: Barbican, Waterloo, Ocho Rios, Savanna-la-Mar, Montego Bay, Mandeville, and Portmore. This strong turnout highlighted the unity and camaraderie within the Fontana family, showcasing the collective dedication of its employees from across the island.

The event was further enhanced by a captivating performance from renowned Reggae/Dancehall artist Agent Sasco, who entertained the guests after dinner. His performance added an extra layer of excitement and celebration to the gala, making it a night to remember.

Awards were distributed to over 200 staff members who have been with Fontana Pharmacy for five to 54 years, recognising their loyalty and hard work. Each awardee received a commemorative plaque and special gifts as a token of the company’s appreciation.
