Food For The Poor, in collaboration with various Government and corporate partners, brought an unforgettable Christmas experience to hundreds of State wards at the Jose Marti High School in St Catherine on December 20.

The event, organised through the Food For The Poor’s Angels of Hope (AOH) programme, transformed the school’s field into a lively haven for children from 23 homes across the island.

The Christmas treat was a multifaceted affair, offering everything from a delightful lunch courtesy of KFC, Eleni’s Bakery and WISYNCo, to an array of activities including bounce-about houses, rides, and self-defence lessons.

The exercise, part of FFP’s Angels of Hope programme, gave meals, gifts, rides, and other treats to hundreds of state wards.

The youngsters, ranging from six to 16 years old, revelled in the festivities. The Silver Birds Steel Orchestra, known as “the world’s most exciting steel band,” set the stage for a lively dance-off, with the wards showcasing their impressive moves. The Blazing Genesis band, a product of Food For The Poor Jamaica’s Band Camp Musical Instruction Programme, added to the entertainment, highlighting the success stories nurtured through the organisation.

HEART/NSTA Trust took the opportunity to showcase potential career paths, instilling hope for a bright future in the minds of the young attendees.

Kivette Silvera, executive director of Food For The Poor, emphasised the organisation’s commitment to spreading joy and love, especially to children in State care.

“They are loved, they are special, and they deserve occasions like this,” she expressed.
