Ford Motor Company faced scrutiny after its X account was reportedly hacked, leading to the posting of controversial messages such as “Israel is a terrorist state,” “ALL EYES ON GAZA,” and “Free Palestine”. Though swiftly deleted, they drew widespread attention and debate.

Ford clarified on the platform that its account had been “briefly compromised” and that the posts did not reflect the company’s views. “Our X account was briefly compromised and three posts were made that were not authorized or posted by Ford. They do not represent the views of Ford Motor Company. Ford and X are investigating this breach,” the statement read.

The incident has divided users and fans of the Ford brand. Some praised the posts, with one commenting, “I’m buying a @Ford Raptor now!” Others condemned them as antisemitic. A user wrote, “If they weren’t hacked, they have a lot of explaining to do,” while another threatened, “You have 60 minutes to fire someone or we will assume @Ford is a Hamas supporter.”

“Does anyone believe, “our account was hacked” anymore?” wrote another.

While some appreciated the action, others were perplexed by the lack of an explicit apology.

“Sorry excuse for the antisemitic post. Apology was not accepted because there was no apology. Shame on you!”

The breach raised questions about corporate account security. Speculation ranged from a disgruntled employee to vulnerabilities in X’s platform. Ford’s quick response in deleting the posts and issuing a statement drew mixed reactions.

Many who suspect the hacker to be a Ford employee are calling for their termination and for the information to be made public in order to maintain their trust in the brand, while others see no issue with the situation.
