Republican stalwart Liz Cheney has endorsed Kamala Harris for President.

Liz Cheney, a lawyer is the daughter of former Vice-President Dick Cheney.

Three years ago, Liz Cheney was the number three Republican in the House.

Donald Trump has a deep aversion for Liz Cheney and regularly mocks and disparages her.

“As a conservative, as someone who believes in and cares about the Constitution, I have thought deeply about this and because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not voting for Donald Trump but I will be voting for Kamala Harris, “ announced Cheney.

The question is will Republican moderates like Mitt Romney follow suit? 

If Harris can pull support from Republican heavyweights, it must be of concern to the Trump camp.

Should Harris secure the presidency come November she may very well find a place for the Republican Liz Cheney in her Cabinet.

The Republican Party is emphatically behind Donald Trump and that was demonstrated in how he secured the nomination. He is the GOP’s standard bearer in this upcoming presidential race which is expected to be a close one.

However, there are senior GOP personalities who find Trump abhorrent. They regard the real estate tycoon as a danger to the party and someone who does not uphold its core values.

In recent years, Liz Cheney has vehemently opposed Trump.

She is seen as a future leader of the Republican Party who can bring it back to the centre ground and return it to traditional American values.
