Former Jamaican Prime Minister and past president of the People’s National Party (PNP), Portia Simpson Miller confirmed today (March 25) via Twitter that she had received her first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

In the post, Miller stated: “I got my vaccine today! I encourage all Jamaicans to get vaccinated when it is their turn. We need to get back to normal as soon as possible. Thanks to the very professional medical team which administered my vaccine and the MHPM @AndrewHolnessJM.”

To which, current Prime Minister and Leader of the governing Jamaica Labour Party Andrew Holness responded:

“I’m very pleased that you had a pleasant experience Most Hon.@PSimpsonMiller. Thank you for joining the call for Jamaicans to become vaccinated. I take this opportunity to continue to encourage Jamaicans to take the vaccine when it’s your turn & as more vaccines become available.”

PATTERSON, GOLDING RECEIVED JAB

ON FIRST DAY OF VACCINATIONS

Simpson Miller is the third and last surviving former Jamaican prime minister to take the jab, following PJ Patterson and Bruce Golding who received their jabs at the start of the country’s vaccination efforts on March 10.

Earlier this week, Holness also received his first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
