Four arrested after illicit rifle transaction foiled in Papine

Four persons were arrested on Monday, November 6, after detectives from the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) intercepted a group of men engaged in an illicit firearm transaction in Papine, St Andrew.

According to reports from the police, some time before 11:00 a.m. on Monday, the police interrupted the illicit transaction of an M-16 Carbine assault rifle.

The police is also reporting that two vehicles were also seized during the interception.

“The successful interception highlights the diligent work of the detectives involved and their relentless pursuit to stem the flow of illegal weapons within the country,” the police said.

Members of the public are also being urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.
