Four Nicaraguans were on Tuesday, October 3, slapped with several charges following the seizure of 120 pounds of ganja in Little Bay, Negril in Westmoreland.

They are 31-year-old Kenroy Hibbert, 19-year-old Andy Garth, 34-year-old Owen Blackwood, and Derrick Johnson, a 39-year-old fisherman from Pearl Lagoon Nicaragua.

This follows the seizure of two vessels on which the Nicaraguans were travelling after being intercepted by the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) Coast Guard around 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), in a statement on Tuesday, said the men were charged following a question-and-answer session on Tuesday.

The charges include: possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, trafficking ganja, attempting to export ganja, and conspiracy to export ganja.

The men are set to appear in the Westmoreland Parish Court on October 10.
