Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce continues her preparation for the Tokyo World Championship as she is down for the 100m at the István Gyulai Memorial in Hungary on Tuesday, August 12.

At 38 years old, this will be Fraser-Pryce’s last World Championship, having won five times in 2009, 2013, 2015, 2019 and 2022 to go with her two Olympic golds in 2008 and 2012.

Fraser-Pryce’s last race was an emotional one at the Jamaican National Championship, where she grabbed the last qualifying spot, finishing third in 10.91 behind the emerging sprint sensation Tina Clayton (10.81) and Shericka Jackson (10.88).

The Jamaican legend will line up against current Jamaican and two-time World Under-20 champion, Tina Clayton, along with veteran Marie Josée Ta Lou-Smith, Americans Tamari Davis and Maia McCoy.

Meanwhile, fellow Jamaicans Hansle Parchment and Rushell Clayton will compete in the 110 hurdles and 400 hurdles, respectively.

The 35-year-old Parchment, who won the Olympic gold in 2020, failed to make the Jamaican team after finishing sixth in 13.39  but has gone faster in three subsequent meets, clocking 13.26 twice and 13.27.

Clayton, the national 400 hurdles champion and two-time bronze medallist at the World Championship, will also be racing for the first time since winning at the Jamaican Championship.

She will be looking to improve on her season’s best 52.38 done in March 2025, and the 53.81 at the Trials.
