The first-leg semi-final of the Jamaica Women’s Premier League kicks off on Saturday with Frazsiers Whip tackling Los Perfectos at 4:00 pm before Cavalier face Arnett Gardens at 6:30 pm at the Constant Spring Complex.

Frazsiers Whip are the defending champions, and they are heavy favourites to not only win the semi-final against Los Perfectos, but win the entire championship. They will be confident after beating Los Perfectos 7-1 in the first round and 2-0 in the second round, but all that is through the window, and Frazsier Whip will have to do it once again.

But with the likes of 40-goal top scorer Davia Richards, Frazsier Whip will be hard to deny. They have rattled in 133 goals this season and should prove too hot to handle for the Manchester-based Los Perfectos.

Frazsier Whip is a very strong and balanced team, and outside of National player Richards, there are Destiny Powell with 20 goals, Nevillegail Able and Shaneil Buckley with 11 and 10 goals respectively.

Los Perfectos will be depending on veteran Venicia Reid, who can turn the game on its head. She has over 20 goals to her tally and must be contained. Andreane Smith and Sashana Campbell are also dangerous players.

Meanwhile, the other semi-final should be a close and exciting affair between second-ranked Cavalier and third-ranked Arnett Gardens. Cavalier and Arnett Gardens battled to a 2-2 draw twice and with just two points separating them in the point standings, all indications are that it will be a close and exciting game over two legs.

Both teams are similar in terms of statistics, losing twice this season and scoring nearly 100 goals.

Arnett Gardens has the in-form striker in Shakiri Douglas, who scored six times last week and took her tally to 37 goals for the season. Douglas, along with Tuanashae Hamilton, with 11 goals and Briana Cosby are expected to assist Arnett in their victory push.

Cavalier Women are hunting a unique double as the men won the Jamaica Premier League, but they will have their hands full containing a confident Arnett Gardens bunch.

Shanel Spence, with over 30 goals, will be the main player for Cavalier and she will be ably supported by Deshanna Cole, Kersha Thomas, Shadie Shirley and Tatyana Polack.

For the first time this season, patrons will be asked to pay to enter the venue, with a cost of $1,000 for adults and $300 for kids.
