‘Friday’ star Anthony Johnson dead at 55

American actor Anthony Johnson, best known for his role as Ezal in the hit film Friday, has died.

Reports are that the 55-year-old was found lifeless in a Los Angeles store earlier this month and was subsequently rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No cause of death has yet been publicly shared.

Speaking to the former star’s passing, his representative LyNea Bell said in a statement: “The world of Comedy has truly been shaken, again. Our BH Talent family is heartbroken about the loss of the iconic legend of stage and screen Mr Anthony ‘AJ’ Johnson.”

“He has left with us amazing memories of his laughter, dynamic acting skills, but most of all his enormous personality and heart of gold,” said Bell.

Beyond his memorable performance in the 1995 hit film Friday, Johnson also appeared in the movies House Party, Menace II Society, Lethal Weapon 3, The Players Club and B.A.P.S.

Johnson is survived by his wife Lexis, three children, and his two siblings.
