Jeovann Anthony Forde, a 23-year-old Jamaican living in Philadelphia, was arrested on December 17, 2024, by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers and the US Marshals Service.
Forde, who is wanted for murder in Jamaica, is currently in ERO custody, pending his removal from the United States to face charges in his home country.
Forde’s legal troubles date back to July 18, 2022, when US Customs and Border Protection officers encountered him in San Ysidro, California.
He was enrolled in the Alternatives to Detention SmartLink programme, which allowed him to remain free initially. However, he failed to comply with the programme’s terms, leading to the termination of his participation on June 27, 2023.
An immigration judge subsequently ordered his removal from the US in absentia on July 24, 2023.
A warrant for his arrest on murder charges was issued by Jamaican authorities on May 24, 2024.
The ERO says his capture and pending removal to Jamaica highlights the commitment of US law enforcement to apprehend individuals attempting to flee prosecution in their home countries.
