Minister of Health and Wellness Dr Christopher Tufton’s sectoral presentation was entitled “Let’s keep Moving!”, and he did just that by announcing ‘Operation Refresh’ to restore Government-run health centres across Jamaica.

He pointed out that the National Health Fund (NHF) has almost doubled its expenditure on subsidies in seven years moving from J$4.18 billion in 2016/2017 to J$7.1.4 billion in 2023/2024.

Tufton also announced J$2.5 billion in scholarships to ramp up the training of healthcare professionals.

Afterwards, he held a reception in honour of Dr Jarbas Barbosa, director of the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) at the Montego Bay suites of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston.
