The 2024 GraceKennedy Jamaican Birthright Programme closing ceremony took place at its downtown Kingston headquarters on Friday (July 26).

The event marked the end of a six-week cultural and professional internship for four Jamaican university students from the US, UK and Canada, who are second- and third-generation immigrants.

The ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, including Alando Terrelonge, Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

Also in attendance were Gail Moss-Solomon, General Counsel & Chief Corporate Secretary of GraceKennedy Limited; Donovan White, Director of Tourism at the Jamaica Tourist Board; and Trudy Chin, General Manager of Caribbean Airlines’ Jamaica Operations.

Interns Lauren Walcott, Madison Thomas, Romaine Smith, and Tariq Brown were given the floor to recall their experiences after spending six weeks getting to know the island as well as their experience working with Grace Kennedy.

The event was an example of the power of cultural and professional exchange—leaving a lasting impact on the participants and reinforcing the bonds between Jamaica and its diaspora.
