SOS Children’s Villages Jamaica, in partnership with Goals for Growth JA, FI We Children Foundation, and influencer 1Clause, recently hosted a vibrant field day at the SOS Village in Stony Hill, offering children a day of fun, mentorship, and community togetherness.

The event featured lively activities, including water balloon contests, egg-and-spoon relays, football, trampolines, music, refreshments, and lunch. With the support of 25 volunteers, approximately 40 children took part in the day’s events, many of whom rarely venture outside due to emotional challenges or personal burdens. For them, the field day created a safe, joyful, and inclusive space to laugh, play, and connect.

“This day was about more than just fun and games; it was about showing these children that they are seen, loved, and supported,” said Sean Patrick, fund development and communication advisor, SOS Children’s Villages Jamaica. “For some, stepping out to participate was a brave and healing step, and we are deeply grateful to our partners and volunteers who made it possible. It truly does take a village to raise a child.”

The collaboration reflected a shared mission of empowerment and care. Goals for Growth JA co-founders expressed their gratitude and vision for the initiative:

“We believe that nurturing children goes beyond providing resources—it’s about creating experiences that help them feel valued and inspired,” said Kellen Crichton.

“This event was about planting seeds of joy through sports to set a tone for structure and discipline, while giving children confidence that we hope will grow into lifelong resilience,” added Rhaina Jean Baptiste.

Influencer Reuben Hussey, known on social media by his moniker @1Clauze, spent the day interacting and mentoring the children and emphasised the value of presence and encouragement:

“Sometimes all a child needs is to know that someone cares enough to show up, listen, and play alongside them. Fun days like this create lasting impact,” said 1Clauze. “I am honoured to be part of this initiative and the Goals for Growth movement, and I left feeling just as inspired as the kids.”

The field day underscored the collective power of partnership and community action in shaping brighter futures. Goals for Growth JA will also extend their support to the SOS Children’s Village in Montego Bay, providing much-needed sporting equipment for extracurricular activities, including goals, goal posts, basketballs, pumps, gold medals and benches.
