Gary O’Neil is looking to transform Strasbourg following Liam Rosenior’s move to sister club Chelsea.

The 42-year-old returns to the dugout after being out of work since his dismissal by Wolves in December 2024. Before that, O’Neil spent a season at Bournemouth, guiding them away from relegation in 2022-23 before being replaced the following summer.

The club’s ownership link with Chelsea has again stirred unease among supporters, many of whom are unhappy about Rosenior’s mid-season departure and what it says about Strasbourg’s place within the wider BlueCo structure.

Fan groups have voiced concerns that the club is being treated as a feeder rather than an independent force, warning about the long-term impact on French football.

Club president Marc Keller has previously defended the ownership model, pointing to more than £100 million spent in the summer, along with upgrades to the stadium and backing for the women’s team and academy. Keller, alongside new sporting director David Weir, who arrived from Brighton in the summer, led the move to appoint O’Neil as Strasbourg look to steady themselves on and off the pitch.
