What initially appeared to be an amicable separation between Bill and Melinda Gates, may just turn out to be a downright clash of clans.

That’s right ladies and gents, everything is not always as it seems!

Reports are that, ahead of the Gates’ divorce announcement on Monday (May 3) Melinda took her family on a pre-divorce party trip on a private island in Grenada which noticeably did not include lil-ole Bill.

Tabloid website TMZ says sources confirmed that the Gates’ divorce was in fact months in coming and was to have been announced back in March to coincide with Melinda and the kids’ Calivigny Island trip.

The game plan being that, at the time of the divorce announcement, the Gates family would have been unreachable by the media; that is, of course, everyone but Bill.

Unfortunately, however, things did not go as planned, but Melinda wasn’t about to let this stop her shine. Forking out US$132,000 a night, she rented the entire Calivigny Island for herself, her kids, and their significant others to spend some time away from Daddy Bill.

So why all the hate against Bill? No one knows, but whatever it is, sources say that on the matter of the less than friendly split, the Gates family is siding with Mama Melinda.
