GenX Miami Carnival brought South Florida’s carnival scene to life with a riot of colours and energy at the Miami-Dade County Fairgrounds, establishing itself as the band of the moment.

GenX enthusiasts, fondly known as GenXers, congregated from all corners of the Caribbean, joining forces with their North American counterparts to embrace the resounding theme ‘UNAPOLOGETIC: Disrupt the System’.

The atmosphere was charged with the latest soca and dancehall music curated by GenX’s roster of DJs, featuring industry powerhouses like Travis World, DJ Puffy, Rocksteady, and King Taj.

Miami’s theme revolved around shaking up the status quo and challenging the norms. But when it comes to Jamaica, GenXS plans to ‘BUN UP THE ROAD.’ We’re about to bring an explosion of vibes and energy, complete with international DJs, models, and celebrities. What’s in store for GenXS Jamaica is pure fire!

Achsah Henry, the face of both GenX Miami Carnival and GenXS Jamaica Carnival, couldn’t contain her excitement. She said, “Being a part of a band that delivers a premium service and an unrivaled experience is simply extraordinary. It’s the exceptional GenX experience that keeps me coming back for more.”

Henry led a legion of mechanical ‘Prototypes’ along the Miami Carnival route, showcasing designs by the visionary David Dewar. These costumes blurred the lines between Post-Apocalyptic Humanoids and Futuristic Cyborgs, creating a visual spectacle that will be etched into carnival history.

Other designers translated the unapologetic theme into stunning creations: Muse and Fly Girl by Designing Daryl, Rebel by designer Lila Nikole, Artisan and Monarch done by GenX staple designer David Dewer, Legend by Douglas John, Lyrix designed by Natalie Fonrose, and stunning Moda by Shawn Dhanraj.

Shanique Singh, who led David Dewar’s MODA design section, shared her admiration for GenX’s thematic approach. She said, “I was particularly drawn to GenX’s theme for this year’s Miami Carnival, which pays homage to women breaking barriers in various industries. The MODA section, where I had the privilege to lead, celebrates the trailblazing women in the beauty and fashion industry.”

“Falling in love with the design before even understanding its meaning speaks volumes about GenX’s thoughtfulness. It’s the well-conceived themes, the profound stories behind each section, and the unwavering commitment to the masqueraders that make GenX exceptional. I eagerly anticipate another unforgettable experience at Jamaica Carnival because I know they will deliver something truly remarkable,” she continued.

The GenXS Jamaica band launch will be on November 18.
