The JUTC received a fleet of 100 new CNG  buses with the Minister of Transport Daryl Vaz promising a further 100 later this year.

At the handing-over ceremony at the JUTC depot in Portmore last week, Prime Minister Andrew Holness said that in the past, Jamaica suffered from an insufficient public transport system.

He said this was the case as administrations failed to commit to long-term financing of a capital budget to acquire critical public assets to supply the services citizens needed.

He went on to add that his government’s prudent fiscal management had allowed for the purchase of these new buses and more to come without debt.
