Festival lovers, are you ready for the epic Sashi Weekend? After a 22-year hiatus, the Sashi music festival returns to Ocho Rios, St Ann, with an impressive list of events to suit every need.
From a fashion show on May 23, showcasing some of the best local and international designers, to a sound clash May 24, promoting the local sound clash culture.
Not to mention a live concert on May 25, featuring international acts such as Ne-Yo, Keyshia Cole, and Busta Rhymes. The festival will culminate with a beach party on May 26 at Plantation Cove.
In order to truly enjoy the Sashi weekend, there are some essentials that patrons will need to maximize the festival experience.

Ticket
The first thing that should be included in your Sashi weekend essential checklist is your tickets. While tickets will be available at the gate for purchase, they will be sold at a higher cost than presold tickets.
Handheld or portable fan
Jamaica has already started to experience higher temperatures due to climatic changes. A handheld or portable fan will prove very useful in helping you stay cool during the heat.
Likewise, wearing breathable clothing made of cotton material can also assist in keeping the body cool.
Water
It is very important to stay hydrated as you partake in the Labour Day weekend activities by drinking enough water. It is not uncommon for individuals to become dehydrated due to alcohol consumption and being caught up in the festivities.
If the venue allows it, bring your own water bottle to sip as you go. Remember, the aim is to have a fulfilled festival experience, not to become dehydrated. Be mindful of your health in the process.
Umbrella
An umbrella is always a necessity when venturing outdoors when you live in a tropical country such as Jamaica, where the weather tends to change. Also, be sure to use your sunscreen before leaving home to provide much-needed protection against harmful sun rays.
Pepper spray
Patrons, especially females, should take special steps to protect themselves from potential predators. This can be done by taking a pepper spray. Pepper spray is very effective and requires women to exert little to no effort during use.
Wipes
Wipes and hand sanitizer are two important essentials to have at these events. Most indoor and outdoor venues generally provide tissue and hand soap during events, but to be prepared, it is useful to have your very own.
Mint
It is very easy for persons to get dehydrated during events which eventually result in dry mouth. No one likes to have a dry mouth because it is generally associated with bad breath. To keep your mouth feeling and smelling fresh, take a pack of gum to stay minty fresh.
Cooler for beach party
If the venue allows it, a cooler may prove useful to have for the beach party. This helps to keep your drinks at a reasonable temperature as you immerse yourself in the beach party experience.
