The authorities are preparing for vending in downtown Kingston and have begun a process of demoliting stalls along the busy thoroughfare in the capital city.

Yesterday, operatives from the Kingston and the St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) aided by the National Water Commission and the police began to demolish stalls on Beckford and Princess streets and sanitize the area.

Beckford and Princess streets are prime areas for vending. Yellow lines were marked out for vending areas. Vendors would have to be registered, and pay a fee to operate in these authorised spaces.

“Jamaica’s aviation traffic is expected to rebound, driven by tourism traffic growth. Hence, a projection of 6.9 million passengers for 2025 is still being held, and we expect that by 2028 we should be at 7.7 million passengers,” Deidrick said.
