US-based Global Humanity Network Inc. (GHN) has launched a global fundraising campaign to support its flagship education initiative, Beyond the Backpack—a structured, multi-year programme designed to eliminate barriers to learning for primary school students across Jamaica.

The campaign calls on individuals, corporate partners, philanthropic organisations, and members of the Jamaican diaspora worldwide to invest in a long-term solution to educational inequity—one that moves beyond temporary aid toward sustained, measurable impact.

Led by GHN in strategic collaboration with Dr Binzie Roy Davidson, Vice President of GHN, Global Jamaica Diaspora Council Advisor (West Midwest, USA), and CEO of UNI Healthcare Inc Systems, alongside A Collision With Purpose Movement, the campaign represents a unified international effort to drive long-term educational transformation.

“This initiative reflects the power of aligned leadership and global collaboration. It is a movement built not only on vision, but on execution,” said Dr Laxley W Stephenson, President and CEO of GHN.

Dr Davidson added, “This is a call to the diaspora and global community to move beyond awareness and into action. When we invest in a child’s education, we are not just supporting a student—we are strengthening families, communities, and the future of our nation.”

While rooted in Jamaica, Beyond the Backpack is designed as a globally supported initiative with local impact, addressing everyday barriers that prevent thousands of students from fully engaging in their education—lack of transportation, uniforms, meals, and guidance, according to a release from GHN.

“These are not luxuries. These are necessities. No child’s future should be determined by the absence of these basic supports,” Stephenson said.

At its core is a three-year student support pathway that ensures continuity, accountability, and measurable outcomes. The programme delivers transportation assistance, uniforms, and academic supplies; nutritional and emotional support; and mentorship, psychosocial care, and leadership development.

“This initiative is not about short-term relief. It is about building systems that ensure every child has the structure and support needed to succeed,” Stephenson noted.

GHN has introduced structured sponsorship tiers to enable participation at every level: US$2,000 (Student Investment Partner), US$4,000 (Education Champion), US$8,000 (Community Impact Partner), and US$10,000+ (National Sustainability Partner). Each tier is designed to translate contributions into sustained, measurable impact.

The programme will roll out across Westmoreland, Trelawny, St Elizabeth, and Hanover, with plans to expand across all 14 parishes. It is also designed as a replicable model with potential to extend into underserved communities across the diaspora.

“This is more than a donation. It is an investment in human potential. When we remove barriers and install structure, we change the trajectory of a life,” Stephenson said.

With its focus on structure, continuity, and measurable outcomes, Beyond the Backpack represents a shift from short-term assistance to long-term transformation.

“We are not just supporting students—we are removing the excuses that limit them and installing the structure that sustains them. When a child is given the opportunity to rise, they do not rise alone—they lift families, communities, and generations,” Stephenson said. “This is bigger than a programme. It is about deciding, as a nation and as a global community, that no child will be left behind because of what they lack.”
