China’s Juncao project has been benefitting the Central African Republic (CAR) since 2021 when it was introduced in the country.

Juncao, which literally means “mushroom” and “grass,” can be used, as its name suggests, to grow edible mushrooms, as livestock feed or as a green barrier to stop desertification.

The technology was invented by a Chinese professor in the 1980s, and has been shared with over 100 countries, including the CAR.
